Role:

Network Security Engineer – IT Infrastructure: 6 month contract located in Dallas          

 

Client has some network vulnerability issues.  They are moving towards PCI compliance and want this person to run the show.  One person task force so needs to be a go-getter and someone hands on.

 

Skills:

·  CISSP Certified Information Systems Security Professional required

·  CISA Certified Information Systems Auditor (highly preferred)

·  ITIL Foundation certification(highly preferred, but still must have ITIL experience)

 

Ranking of Skills / experience:
1.  CISCO
2. TCP/IP
3.  PCI Compliance
4.  Audit (SOX, etc.)

 

·  Ability to undertake support as designated Advanced Services engineer for large-scale networks

  • Broad hands-on experience with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) technologies
  • Broad knowledge of system hardening, security and access control principals, techniques and tools
  • Experience in a 24X7 enterprise production support environment required
  • Experience with Linux distributions a plus
  • Experience working in, and providing information for, PCI and related regulatory standards environments
  • Expert level internetworking troubleshooting in a large-scale network environment
  • Expert level knowledge in IP Routing (IGRP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP) and Layer 2 and Layer 3 LAN Switching
  • Expert level knowledge in Load Balancing, WAN Optimization, SAN, HTTP, MPLS, and Data Center Networking Design
  • In-depth knowledge of network management, network availability and security planning.
  • Large-scale network design skills
  • Must be a team player and work well with all levels of management
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Understanding of Data Center Virtualization and VMware a plus 
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and eight to twelve years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Overnight travel may be required on occasion.

 

SUMMARY

The Consulting Network Security Engineer will support information security programs and policies. The qualified candidate will be responsible for the evaluation, design, implementation and maintenance of a variety of information security systems (i.e. network intrusion detection, PC and Server security, event log analysis systems) and other duties to ensure compliance with Information Security and Data Security Standards.

 

DUTIES

  • Adhere to established policies, processes and procedures to ensure that infrastructure systems are in corporate, regulatory and legal compliance
  • Communicate frequently with business partners, teammates and vendors
  • Compose and maintain detailed network and information security architecture and environment documentation to reflect its composition, utilization and regulation, etc.
  • Consult with business partners, teammates and vendors to build budgets and establish and maintain infrastructure cost-effectiveness
  • Continually evaluate, optimize and ensure compliance for network and information security environments
  • Deliver projects on schedule
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of multiple network resources and information security applications, platforms and services to ensure their availability, reliability, serviceability and scalability
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with business partners, teammates and vendors to perform job functions effectively
  • Develop, validate and maintains infrastructure standards
  • Generates network configurations from Low Level Design for highly complex networks
  • Identify, implement and update metrics to ensure infrastructure performance can be measured
  • Lead and provide support to multiple projects simultaneously, including composition and maintenance of detailed plans, technical specifications and collaborative interaction
  • Leads and assists  with deployment and strategy of highly complex tools and related network management systems and information security standards
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of the company’s business to align infrastructure with company goals
  • Perform work in a reasonable and professional manner
  • Performs analysis and diagnosis of highly complex networking problems
  • Performs analysis of highly complex network designs
  • Plan and coordinate own work to meet commitments and quality expectations
  • Plans and executes highly complex Network Upgrade and Network Migration activity
  • Troubleshoots and resolves highly complex network problems across a broad range of technologies
  • Work closely with project managers to ensure appropriate infrastructure resources are applied to achieve project goals
