Sr LAN Administrator

 

A Sr. LAN Administrator is needed in Columbus, Ohio for a project with a large & exciting group. This person will be responsible for the IBM Websphere v6.x architecture and design for a 24x7x365 global operation. In this role, the LAN Admin will maintain Websphere software releases in AIX and Windows environments and provide assistance with the migration of Websphere applications from Windows to AIX. He or she must be able to identify and communicate any potential issues with Websphere migration to an AIX environment.

Additionally, the LAN Admin will provide an on-going review and maintenance of the company’s high availability solution for Websphere implementations and assist in the development of Websphere standards, guidelines, policies and best practices for both AIX and Windows operating platforms.

Additional project requirements:
• Capacity planning based on application requirements, number of users, etc.
• Improving the firms Websphere disaster recovery (DR) capabilities
• Project planning and documentation as required
• Second/Third-level help desk ticket resolution, including 24x7x365 support and on-call support as needed
• Adherence to time and metric’s tracking

Qualified candidates should possess their Associates Degree with 4-6 years of related work experience, and it is preferred he or she be IBM Websphere Certified and/or AIX & Windows Certified.

Skills/Experience:
• Minimum 5 years experience in LAN administration.
• Formal AIX administration training required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 2003 Server.
• AIX, Microsoft and Websphere Certifications are preferred.
• Experience with any of the following is highly desirable: AIX P-Series hardware, AIX v5.3 and higher, Terminal Services, Windows XP, MS Office, AIX Virtual IO Server (VIOS), MS Project, MS Visio, VMWare.
• Should have the ability to work independently and be able to establish priorities.
• Must have excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Good organizational skills.
