Job Description:
The position requires the individual to be responsible for managing the installation of dedicated wide area internet connections at various speeds from the AT&T Common backbone to various customer locations. This position requires good knowledge of Tier 1 ISP’s Routing Policies (WAN experience) as well as Network design, Routing, DNS, IP Subneting, TCP/IP protocol,(BGP, OSFP, RIP, and EIGRP) Security: NAT Configuration, Proxy Server, and Firewalls. Telecommunications, Good knowledge of (OCX, T3, fractional T3, T1’s and fractional T1, ATM, and Frame Relay, Voice Over-IP). Hardware (Routers, CSU/DSU, bridges, multiplexers, servers and switches configuration) Strong project management skills are required to compliment the required technical knowledge. This is NOT a hands on type of position. The position has the overall responsibility for implementing the service in order to meet their customer’s requirements, both technically and logistically. Must be US citizen or permanent resident due to possible government orders.
Soft Skills: Strong Communications, Interpersonal and Facilitation Skills, customer relationship training.
The individual is responsible for, but not limited to, order assessment, technical evaluation, technical troubleshooting, overall project management, problem solving and final test and turn-up of the service to the customers. Good communication skills are necessary to organize outside customers, contractors, AT&T managers and non-management personnel in order to implement the service. The individual must have a good understanding of IP Backbone Architecture, TCP/IP protocol, IP addressing and routing policies, Basic Network designs, and Domain Name Services. Additionally, the individual must have a good working knowledge of required technical hardware such as Cisco Routers, CSU/DSU, bridges, multiplexiers, servers and switches.
The Provisioning Technical Engineers need to be able to make decisions about the level of support that will be provided to the customer. An example of this is to go above and beyond the service description and responsibilities to ensure customer satisfaction. Our engineers, as managers, have the power and responsibility to make decisions about service levels that are outside the boundaries of support.
Project Management
Facilitates calls between the customers and various AT&T teams to resolve any and all issues
Tracks critical order milestones to meet customer delivery date
Escalates issues and problems on behalf of the Customer
Manages the entire order provisioning process
Coordinates final testing between customer, consultants, AT&T communication technicians
Valid CCNA desired.
Associate’s degree from a technical school plus a minimum of 4 years relevant work experience at the Technical Associate level or equivalent experience or Non-technical Bachelor’s degree including 12 credits in a relevant field plus typically 2* or more years relevant work experience at the Technical Associate level or equivalent experience
Rotating shifts with other team members. Building coverage is 8am – 8 pm. Possible weekends when emergencies arise.
